Scotrenewables Tidal Power, an engineering company based in Scotland, has focused on the development of tidal energy turbine they called “tidal energy generation”. The company has launched the SR2000 2MW, the most effective operational tidal turbine. It is simple, fast, incurs low manufacturing and installation cost, and has cost effective maintenance strategies.
As per the company statement, the Scotrenewables Tidal Power has crossed another milestone with its floating tidal stream turbine of 2MW that produced 3GWh renewable electricity. This was when the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney first examined it.
The company takes pride in presenting this tidal turbine, as it incurs low cost and maintenance where most of the engineers face challenges to bring something new in tidal technologies. The company is not involved in offshore heavy lifting, but focus on onshore assembly in controlled and safe environment.
Andrew Scott, CEO of Scotrenewables Tidal Power, states that despite being in their first year of testing it has delivered high performance where mostly mature renewable technologies work. Furthermore, he adds by saying the ability to reach the SR2000 during their routine is the major factor to able to generate electricity at such high levels in the course of last one year, even in winters.
He also mentioned that the SR2000 uses rigid inflatable boats and various similar cost effective vessels. This connotes that their operational cost and outage times are the lowest.
