A recent research indicates that the skipping breakfast can have deadly repercussions. Several middle-aged adults who habitually skip breakfast are prone to having clogged heart arteries, the study reveals. Findings suggest that good heart health is related to the first meal of the day. People who eat a healthy breakfast are less likely to develop plaques in their arteries. Plaques are a collection of calcium, fat, and several other substances that tend to narrow the arteries, eventually leading to atherosclerosis. In a worst case scenario, the atherosclerosis can cause strokes and heart attacks.
Convenience Food Items become Culprits to Skipping Breakfasts
The study also assesses the reason why people skip breakfast. It reveals that those who skip breakfast eat out more than those who have breakfast at home. Opting for convenience meals and on-the-go meals are the primary reasons for skipping breakfasts. Over a period of time this impacts the appetite-regulating hormones, insulin hormone, and eventually blood sugar. On the other hand, those who eat a hearty breakfast are less likely to suffer from obesity, heart disease, or diabetes.
Belief that Eliminating Breakfast Could Help Lose Weight Leads to Poor Habit
The report also points out that those who consume lean meat, seafood, fruits, and vegetables for breakfast are also likely to live healthier lives. Right eating choices, especially for breakfasts, are expected to result in lesser chances of developing high blood pressure, obesity, unhealthy cholesterol levels, and diabetes. Ironically, the report states that many believe eliminating breakfast from their meals can help them to reduce weight. However, little do these people realize that it has an exactly opposite effect on eating habits and appetite for the rest of the day, culminating into craving for carbs.
