According to a recent report conducted by RSA security, a Dell Technologies business that offers business-driven security solutions shows that India is among the top four countries that have been targeted by phishing attacks. Netherlands, Canada, and the U.S. are other targeted countries experiencing phishing attacks. After the United States, India stands at the second position for hosting online frauds was also mentioned in the report.
In the RSA Quarterly Fraud Report, phishing attacks have increased to 50% of all observed fraud attacks in the Q3 of 2018. Globally, more than 38 thousand have been carried out in the third quarter and it is 70% more than was calculated in the second quarter. Through phishing, people can obtain sensitive information such as passwords, usernames, and credit cards details via emails. However, attacks related to financial malware dropped from 16% to 12 % between the second and third quarter.
Malware and phishing are the two most prolific frauds tactics developed over the last few decades. Phishing attacks not only permits online financial frauds but also it is scary and dangerous as they get better at mimicking messages, accounts, legitimate links, individuals and sites, mentions report.
Automated fraud arises as a part of various active banking Trojan horse malware families. Moreover, these programmes are not easily detected and keep playing their role quietly. Between the second and third quarter, more than 9 thousand rogue mobile applications, representing 24 percent of total fraud attacks were detected by RSA.
