A professor from the University of Waterloo explains that it is important to mitigate the adverse consequences of a crash. The system is based on solving similar problems of post-crash damages. The primary line of action in this regard is to try and avoid collisions with pedestrians. Furthermore, the system considers various factors such as speed, angle of collision, and vehicle-mass to minimise damage. The most apt means of manoeuvring is to control the braking and steering systems of a vehicle. Hence, the new technology combines the synergies of these systems to reduce the cumulative impact of accidents.

The technology continually learns from new events to improve the effectiveness of the system. There are several unanticipated events that can become a cause of accidents and mishaps.
