Norwegian oil services company Aker Solutions has announced a long-term deal of collaboration with software company Cognite, aspiring to push the development of digital solutions with a strong emphasis on increasing efficiencies of the entire life of an energy asset. The Oslo based Oilfield Products Company will be using the industrial data platform that Cognite has developed in order to collect and analyze humongous data coming from offshore enegry installations. The customers are expected to be able to make more informed choices regarding their energy assets at any point of time which in turn is expected to lower risks, reduce costs, and improve performance.
According to the Chief Digital Officer of Aker Solutions, Astrid Onsum, by gathering and analyzing large volumes of tangled industrial data will enable them in developing even better products and offer enhanced services to their consumers. It must be noted that Cognite’s new platform has the capability of aggregate and structure large amounts of data from different industries, ranging from real-time sensors to maintaining logs, handling equipment hierarchies, process diagrams, and 3D CAD (three dimensional computer-aided design) models.
On the other hand, Cognite’s CEO has promised that the focus will be on deriving solutions that can provide value right from the beginning. Their new partners have been proactive in adapting to new technology and innovations in engineering. It must be noted that Aker Solutions recently formulated software house, which is their internal initiative that is aimed at developing new software products for energy assets.
